Headwinds on the dual carriageway meant no one was keen to work. The bunch slowed to alot, but mine and Clare's attempts to split the field were no good.
Midway through race, the pro-riders caught our bunch and it was hang on for dear life! Myself, Clare, Elena and the red leader's jersey hung onto their wheels along with another Wyndymilla rider. Clare managed to stay with the men for the remainder of the race. Iona and the Wyndymilla rider were the last two to lose contact with the men and had a lead of about one minute over the red leader's jersey at one point. With 1 lap to go, the race leader got dragged back up to us, leaving it a sprint for the line.
